A Day in the Life
We are looking to hire an experienced Consultant or Senior Consultant (depending on experience) in Clinical Pathway Optimization and Digital Solutions, to connect with clients, understand and analyze their most pressing business problems, and deliver high value services which improve their productivity, quality and service delivery. You will deliver well scoped operational excellence and pathway optimization projects at key strategic customer accounts.
You will interface with their lead physicians, C-suite and senior management and understand their most pressing clinical and operational problems. As part of your role, you contribute to the further development of our consulting service offerings.
Our consultants are seasoned professionals with in-depth knowledge of the healthcare value chain, as well as breadth of experience across multiple disciplines. They partner with hospital management teams to drive complex transformational change, implement innovative growth strategies, streamline patient-focused care pathways and optimize operations.
- Assess strategy, patient pathways and performance of hospitals or health systems we are working with.
- Support the development of whole health system disease state pathways and assess the economic impact of pathway changes.
- Support the development and deployment of remote patient management and engagement digital solutions
- Undertake flow analysis of clinical pathways to identify rate limiting steps, develop solutions and model impact on the patient pathway.
- Support the assessment and benchmarking of hospital performance, collect and analyse data, interview hospital stakeholders and co-lead workshops.
- Identify, frame and prioritize initiatives to capture value, and establish road-map and develop actionable plans / project portfolios for immediate and long-term improvement, including improved clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction and costs savings (e.g. patient pathways improvement, Operating room efficiency, Same Day-discharge development, digital solutions, etc).
- Manage and execute end-to-end action plan, leading to quantified economic and clinical value.
- Support healthcare organizations in the development of business cases and support approval from regulators.
- Capture and analysis of outcome measures (e.g. PROMS, PREMS, DALYS, QALYS and financial measures).
- Capture learning and best-practices and continuously enrich Medtronic EMEA and UK&I consulting toolbox.
- Contribute to the development of IHS and Medtronic in UK&I (commercial development, answer to tenders, internal communication, congress participation, etc.).
- Support and work closely with the Medtronic Operating Units to develop and prioritise strategic/outcome-based projects that embed our latest technologies and devices within clinical pathways.
- Identify were possible for more business opportunities and/or service improvements (new stream solutions)
- Maintain close communication to sales force

- Demonstrable experience over 3 years in healthcare consulting focusing on clinical pathway reorganization, business case development and health analytics.
- Demonstrated ability to operate from idea generation, strategy development through detailed implementation and results delivery.
- Project experience of utilizing professional body guidance and recommendations in the development of an evidential base for pathway optimization.
- Demonstrable project experience of pathway optimization and the developing NHS business cases, preferably including elements of infrastructure investment and patient pathway redesign and health infrastructure.
- Strong analytical skills including advanced analysis of patient data and capacity modelling
- Communication & presentation skills.
- Ability to interact all kinds of stakeholders within hospitals
- Strong ability to develop and foster business relationships with continuously changing stakeholders
- Thorough knowledge of the decision-making process within hospitals
- Strong business acumen / linking pin to commercial business development.
- Healthcare Industry / Hospital knowledge or experience is an essential requirement.
- Working knowledge of professional body recommendation and regulatory guidance is essential (e.g. Royal College, HBNs/HTMs, etc.).
Nice to Haves
- Knowledge of digital health solutions is desirable
- Lean Six Sigma certification is desirable.
- Familiarity with HMT 5/6-Case Models, including requirements based on stage and contents.
- Basic knowledge of health economics is desirable.
- Knowledge of medical devices and their place in clinical pathways is highly desirable
