The objective of this director role is to determine the Accounts Payable strategy to ensure leading-class performance, globalization of the function and integrated end-to-end PtP perspective. The global AP process owner holds ultimate accountability and responsibility for  process design/improvements, technology platform strategy and service delivery model definition.


Global AP process owner is mandated to make the end-call over the global AP design through close collaboration with key stakeholders such as the regional AP leaders and GFO leadership. GFO centers will manage service delivery and resources in accordance to the processes, including service levels designed by the GPO.

A Day in the Life


In this role you will define a strategy aimed to globalize, simplify and innovate Medtronic's global AP Function:

  • Globalize:
    • design global process (future proof) and service delivery definition
    • optimize global governance structure
    • define global KPI’s, SLA’s and reporting
    • eliminate regional barriers
  • Simplify:
    • Continuously optimize and eliminate/reduce global process variations aimed to maximize,  standardize &  improve quality and reduce costs
    • assume matrix accountability for the end-to-end PtP value stream
    • maintain strict operating standards
  • Innovate:
    • drive world-class processes
    • leverage state of the art technology

 

Other responsibilities include:

  • Encourage, inspire and motivate the 3 regional AP leaders who report through matrix relationship, and their [extended ACCN] teams, to further innovate and create change that will help grow and shape the future success of our Finance function
  • Partner with GFO leadership to ensure appropriate talent is identified, retained and careers considered in collaboration with HR
  • Influence business outcomes through credible and authentic relationships with leaders and colleagues
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and coach to senior leaders giving effective feedback, performance coaching, and development advice in support of their leadership effectiveness
  •  Institute common standards, systems, processes, policies, procedures and metrics –incl. process deviation documentation (allowing regional deviations from global standards only in case of justified legal/regulatory/tax considerations)
  • Own global SOX AP controls and standard process documentation such as service catalogue and work instructions - no changes without consent of GPO AP.
  • Define and monitor global AP metrics to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities incl. external and internal benchmarking (GPO is an internal customer of the GFO AP service offering)
  • Evaluate and propose process improvements by identifying best in class opportunities and to communicate them to the wider organization to gain alignment and then driving implementation.
  • Synchronize and prioritize process improvement plans with other process owners within the PtP value chain and other interfacing processes
  • Lead AP design work with ACCN
  • Be the change agent in process changes and/or tools implementation impacting the regional GFO’s.
  • Act as unbiased “independent auditor of the process” - day to day issue resolution and escalations will be dealt with by the regional GFO centers.
  • Establish close collaboration between different functions (work thru the matrix) such as sourcing, IT, treasury, master data, internal audit, EBS

20%-30% international travel

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience
