The Cranial and Spinal Technologies (CST) Operating Unit is passionately driving the broad adoption of its solutions across the entire cranial and spinal patient pathways, with the ultimate goal of constantly and consistently improving the best possible (clinical) outcome for patients.
Solutions include the huge and expanding portfolio of implants and biologics, but also robotics, navigation and imaging. A Day in the Life
The main responsibility of the Business Manager Enabling Technologies (ET) is to define, implement, supervise and drive strategic direction of the ET part of CST at a regional level, being North Western Europe (UK, Ireland, Nordics and Benelux). He or she will make sure goals and objectives at the regional level are in accordance with the overall EMEA strategy. The position will be accountable for meeting revenue, profitability and marketing objectives. Furthermore, transforming the Go to Market strategy into a successful omnichannel customer experience is one of the key focus areas. Also, driving market development and penetration, particularly around the launch of robotic and navigated spinal and cranial surgeries, is of utmost importance.
This position will be the lead in the North Western Europe region for the e Robotics, Navigation, Imaging, Power, Monitoring and Energy businesses, interacting with scientific societies and international key opinion leaders across the region. This person will be (or will become) a subject matter expert in the broad aspects of spinal and cranial surgery and business.
In addition to being the lead of the customer facing part of the ET business for North Western Europe, this person will also be the central point of interaction for marketing, market development and business development activities and will be involved in the financial discussion for the ET business with the country business leaders under the direction of the CST Business Director.
Tasks & responsibilities:
- In collaboration with marketing team develop and implement business strategies and plans to grow the Enabling Technology business in North Western Europe and to deliver yearly defined objectives relative to AOP, market penetration and market share;
- Develop and grow our integrated solution selling offering - Surgical Synergy – to drive Medtronic's unique technology portfolio focus, by being an expert to support and present new business models and financing options;
- Grow the Medtronic ET business in North Western Europe through market expansion and by taking competitive market share by developing strategies and tactics that facilitate execution by the country sales and business organizations;
- Working with the rest of the North Western Europe CST leadership team to build a future strategy for the evolution of how the company will Go to Market: exploration and implementation of a successful omnichannel customer experience;
- Establish and roll-out the vision, strategy and annual goals and objectives, ensuring alignment with overall business strategy and plans at regional and EMEA level;
- Identify business growth opportunities and unmet customer requirements and provide focus to move ideas to marketplace;
- Analyze market size, competitive market landscape and other information from all sources and develop strategies to improve sales, decrease cost levels and increase market share for all product lines;
- Ensure the implementation and the success of strategies and ad-hoc plans;
- Be part of the CST leadership team and take part in any project or task considered to be important for the overall business success;
- Work in close partnership with CST leaders in the countries/sub-regions;
- Work with operating unit leaders to provide input on forecast, inventory control, phase in/out plans, clinical evaluations etc.;
- Ensure alignment in other functional areas such as T&E, Commercial Excellence, etc.
Must Haves
Education
- Business or Healthcare related (medical or scientific) degree or its equivalent.
- Master's degree in Life-science, Marketing or Business Administration or another relevant, advanced degree a strong plus.
Experience
- About 6-8 years of progressively expanding sales and marketing responsibilities, with consistent strong performance.
- Cross-countries sales or marketing leadership experience in a medical device international company preferred.
- Experience in highly competitive (implant) market preferred as well as large Capital Sales & complex sales process experience a big plus.
Skills
- Strong proven leadership track record which indicates effective management and motivation of other groups in a multi-cultural environment (multiple European countries).
- Proven ability to operate in a matrix environment and work effectively with sales & marketing management as well as other functions.
- Strong business acumen and proven ability to achieve objectives.
- Able to act as a coach to the sales organization on business opportunities, complex deal planning and negotiation.
- Passionate about new technologies.
- Highly motivated with "can do" attitude and strong management skills.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate (written or verbal) at all levels in an organization and with diverse groups.
- Proven track record of good judgment. Demonstrated integrity and respect of peers and subordinates.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and fluency in English. Any other European language is an advantage.
Comfortable with approximately 50% travel.
