The Role
As a Scrum Master, you are accountable for working with your scrum team(s) and product owner to deliver capabilities that meet overall business objectives using Agile methodologies. This role is expected to lead scrum teams through the development of new product capabilities, features, and solutions that support business strategies and initiatives. This role will continuously develop and improve software development and execution
A Day in the Life
- Leads and directs one or more scrum teams engaged in global initiatives
- Facilitates relevant Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily scrums, sprint reviews, demos and retrospectives
- Plans and communicates the team capacity for each quarter and sprint
- Collaborates with both the Product Owner (PO) and Product Development Managers (PDMs) to ensure sprint commitments are aligned to backlog priority, well-defined, and achievable
- Continuously monitors sprint health, including issues and risks; coordinating discussions with stakeholders to review/update commitments when necessary
- Manages task management tool and dashboards/metrics to ensure clarity and full transparency regarding sprint health and team performance against commitments
- Ensures scrum team members maintain administrative hygiene to ensure dashboards/metrics are clear and actionable
- Supports sprint demos with the team to celebrate successes and align output with stakeholder expectations
- Facilitates retrospective sessions with a feedback loop; resulting in continuous improvement
- Collaborates with other scrum masters to improve Agile methodologies’ efficiency
- Responsible for sprint deliverables through effective organization and leadership, business case and benefits management, stakeholder management, risk management and issue resolution, planning and control, change management, and quality management
- Keeps current on advances and best practices in agile methodologies
- Embraces and owns servant leadership:
- Guides the team to self-organize for operation beyond the defined Agile/Scrum frameworks
- Clears roadblocks and obstacles for the team
- Protects the team from changing priorities, communication, and other distractions outside of sprint commitments
- Promotes collaboration and teamwork across scrum team members, encouraging cross-training and team support when necessary

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
CAREERS 2.0 Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- A current career break of two or more years
- An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 4 years of relative professional experience
- Previous experience working in a collaborative and diverse environment
Specific to this Role:
Must Haves: Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
Specialized Knowledge Required:
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Excels at building strong relationships with scrum team, external stakeholders, and leadership
Nice to Have:
- Scrum team predictability, quality and velocity improvements over time
- Transparency of scrum team work in progress and completed work, as well as work that carries over from sprint to sprint
- Strategic communication with stakeholders outside of the scrum team
- Feedback from scrum team, Product Owner (PO), and business stakeholders
- First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I)
- Regulated industry knowledge
- Experience or interest working in distributed, global teams
- Familiar with planning tools like TFS, Confluence or similar
- Experience or interest in teaching and coaching team members
