The REGIONAL REIMBURSEMENT AND ECONOMIC MANAGER, provides reimbursement support to sales personnel and customers including physicians, hospitals, integrated health centers and other healthcare providers for the Medical Surgical portfolio. This position is a field-based role, responsible for the dissemination of reimbursement and economic value information. The Regional Economic Manager also serves as the regional resource for all relevant related reimbursement support and economic analysis and will deliver and communicate impactful reimbursement and economic value evidence to MDT customers.
A Day In The Life
- Regional field resource for reimbursement education and support for external customers and field partners. Maintain expert level reimbursement knowledge (coding, coverage, payment) for all assigned products and therapies.
- Deliver and communicate impactful economic value evidence, messaging and tools to MDT customers (C-suite, hospital administration, payers, and physicians) demonstrating a mastery of all economic and relevant clinical evidence for assigned technology.
- Develop deep relationships with sales partners including sales leadership. Serve as their reimbursement and economic business partner for all respective teams.
- Build and maintain strategic working relationships with customers and develop key opinion leaders to support HEPR initiatives.
- Conduct and present healthcare economic analysis to customers, demonstrating the economic value (procedural, programmatic, and downstream benefit) of therapies.
- Maintain expert level understanding of U.S. health care financing systems, changes in payment and overall reimbursement environments serving as the subject matter expert for assigned regions.
- Train and educate all field partners on reimbursement and economic value content (evidence, messaging, tools) and customer economics.
- Work in collaboration with legal, compliance, and other business groups to assure appropriate customer engagement processes are strictly adhered to.
Must Have; Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 10 years experience working directly with customers to remove reimbursement barriers, or payers to gain or improve coverage for products reimbursed under the medical benefit required.
- OR an Advanced Degree with minimum 8 years experience working directly with customers to remove reimbursement barriers, or payers to gain or improve coverage for products reimbursed under the medical benefit required
Nice To Have
- Prior experience in delivering impactful reimbursement and economic value evidence messaging and tools to support sales and capital purchases to customers.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of U.S. healthcare reimbursement mechanisms and regulations related to reimbursement for medical technology products.
- Experience working in medical device industry, hospital administration, managed care or related health care field.
- Advanced degree (e.g., Masters) preferred.
- Experience with evidence dissemination tools and tactics
- Strong computer skills, particularly Excel (e.g., for basic economic models), PowerPoint (effective story telling/persuasion).
- Excellent communication ability (both written and presentation ability)
