Apply biomedical engineering expertise towards researching and developing solutions of complex biomedical imaging problems including acquisition strategies, 2D and/or 3D image processing, signal processing, GPU based reconstruction, and calibration techniques for cone-beam CT systems and position measurement and metrology algorithms. Design experiments, phantoms, and algorithms to support feasibility efforts. Conduct medical imaging with algorithm/development and review and evaluate medical images. Perform development, design, prototype, documentation and execution of hardware and software creation, schedules, test plans, test protocols and reports to ensure medical device products meet published specifications and requirements and comply with (QSR) Quality System Regulations.
A Day in the Life
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING AND OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED:
Responsible for the initiation, design, development, execution, and implementation of scientific research projects.
Investigates the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products.
Plans and executes laboratory research.
Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the art principles and theories and may contribute to scientific literature and conferences.
May participate in development of patent applications.
May coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts.
TECHNICAL SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM:
An individual contributor with responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies – from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.

Seasoned individual contributor. Works independently under limited supervision to determine and develop approach to solutions. Coaches and reviews the work of lower level specialists; may manage projects / processes.

Required Knowledge and Experience:
Requires advanced knowledge of job area combining breadth and depth, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
- Medical imaging with hardware and algorithm design experience;
- Reviewing and evaluating medical images;
- Programming in .NET, C# or C/C++ environment;
- 2D or 3D image processing, signal processing, or position measurement and metrology algorithms;
- Various optimization techniques (linear, non-linear, or iterative);
- Algorithm design as related to the registration, visualization or processing of medical image modalities;
- R& D experience in the medical industry or in the clinical environment
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 4+ years of research experience with a Bachelors Degree
- 2+ years of research experience with a Masters Degree
- Experience with motion systems
- Experience designing cone-beam imaging systems
- Master’s Degree in BME, EE or Medical Physics
