This individual is an experienced legal leader with exceptional strength in health law who will:

  • Provide thought and technical leadership in health law, fraud and abuse and anti-kickback law amongst the team of lawyers and legal professionals within the Health Law Center of Excellence, 
  • Influence internal and external stakeholders,
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders, including colleagues in other Centers of Excellence and those located globally, help inform enterprise risk strategy on health law matters arising from various regulatory regimes, including the U.S. Anti-Kickback Statute, Sunshine Act, False Claims Act, Stark Law, and other laws and regulations pertaining to provision of healthcare, and set priorities for managing the risk.  

This role requires a high level of professionalism and responsiveness to business stakeholders in a large, dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Ideally this individual will be located in Minneapolis, MN, but other locations may be considered.  This position reports to the Chief Counsel, U.S. Markets / Senior Legal Director, Global Health Law COE.
 

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage and deliver legal advice and counsel to legal, business, function, and regional leaders. 
  • Coordinate and manage outside counsel, ensuring high quality work product and effective cost management.
  • Engage appropriate stakeholders across the enterprise to drive consistency in approach as appropriate. 
  • Lead COE team members in development and implementation of training and knowledge management program for business lawyers.
  • Manage partnerships with other COEs and regional lawyers.
  • Implement continuous improvement of operating mechanisms.
  • Manage work allocation across the COE. 
  • Guide, develop, and support junior COE team members.
  • Build consensus and develop policy on cutting-edge legal issues.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Juris Doctor from nationally recognized law school
  • Admitted to one or more state bars
  • Be a member of bar in the state in which the position is based or be eligible to waive into such state bar or otherwise be eligible to practice in such state (e.g., authorized house counsel program)
  • 13+ years of legal experience with a minimum of 8+ years in the areas of health law counseling, fraud and abuse and anti-kickback law
