A Day in the Life
Reporting to the Site Engineering Director with responsibility for Site Wide Cost Savings Pipeline to deliver 5% YoY cost reduction for the North Haven site, you will oversee indirect reporting embedded in the Focus Factories and support functions within the Manufacturing site. You will deliver ~5% COP reduction annually on a ~$450M manufacturing budget (~$30 Million) including Operational Saving Pipeline establishment and continued maintenance, financial leadership of site wide cost savings program, and development of innovative approaches to enhanced cost performance for the manufacture of medical devices.
You will:
• Create and maintain a forward thinking and sustainable cost savings pipeline supported by innovative ideas and systems that drive cost competitiveness for North Haven Manufactured products.
• Develop 1/3/5 Year Cost savings Strategy and Standard Work in support of Cost Savings pipeline development and maintenance
• Accountable for financial analysis efforts and support for all NH Mfg. site cost reduction projects, including financial accounting policies for capturing savings
• Lead Project financial tracking and reporting in support of the Cost savings programs at the North Haven Site
• Establish of Cost savings project management system and tools in support of Local and divisional led cost savings initiatives that impact the North Haven site.
• Work closely with OPEX on Operational efficiency efforts and MOS (Medtronic Operating System) rollout at the site assuring cost savings is an input into MOS strategy and that impacts are measured and captured financially for North Haven
• Partner with divisional support groups in areas of Sourcing and Global Engineering to establish Cost savings partnerships and utilize divisional resources to support cost savings at the North Haven plant
• Drive efforts around Value Engineering of mature product families including “true cost” tools and product feature level valuation and assessment.
• Maintain global awareness of manufacturing strategies & capabilities and provide insights into technology and systems developments in areas of material cost reduction and operational efficiencies.
• Report to senior operations leadership on North Haven cost savings program status and initiatives
• Demonstrate and utilize lean, six sigma, 5S, team building, effective communication, and project management skills to perform essential job functions and develop effective actions plans.
• Communicate and coordinate project activities with multiple functional groups both within and outside of operations
• Develop solutions to a variety of routine problems using computer and logic-based methods
- Bachelors degree required
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
Nice to Have
- Understanding of Electro Mechanical Device Design and component manufacturing
- Highly skilled with Excel, MS Project, AutoCAD, and ERP Systems
- High financial acumen & analytic skills
- Diverse background with prior experience in multiple disciplines a plus
- Strong Project management skills.
- Trained/Certified in Lean and/or 6 Sigma
- Value stream mapping experience preferred
- Ability to set policy and supervise and direct others
- Self-directed with the ability to develop, facilitate and gain consensus in a team environment.
- Effective communication skills with superiors, subordinates, and contractors.
- Ability to adapt to evolving projects requirements.
- Problem solving skills, (both technical & business process)
- Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability and integrity when making decisions.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:
This position is an individual contributor role with indirect reports and ability to drive success through influencing others. Role Operates in conjunction with site leadership and drives strategy and action at the site leadership level.
