A Day in the Life
Reporting to the Site Engineering Director you will assure that the Global Competitive Manufacturing advantage for Medtronic is improved with every product launch at the North Haven site.
You will collaborate regularly with Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, OpEx and Quality Engineering for inputs to early New Product Development (NPD) stages. You will lead resource
planning for North Haven site for NPD launches and transfers and own the NPD product transfer processes and execution.
You will:
• Be accountable for NPD product realization at the North haven Manufacturing Site across all focus factories and functions
• Assure all manufacturing support requirement are in place to support New Product launches and meet Delivery, Cost, and Quality Goals
• Lead Site resource planning for NPD launches and transfers assuring headcount and skillset are identified and in place for needed support and activities.
• Oversee Quality/OPEX/Engineering functions on Early stage engagement in the NPD process to assure early consideration for Voice of Operations and alignment with NPD on measures of success
• Own the North Haven site New product transfer process assuring smooth and efficient transfer of program responsibility in the commercialization stage
• Drive the involvement of Manufacturing employees and operators in DFCOS activities throughout the full NPD process.
• Own process and execution around Standard cost establishment and Margin Enhancement activities from Launch through Commercialization of products
• Monitor Products in Launch and commercialization and drive actions/escalations as needed to assure Quality/Service/cost goals are met
• Govern process and activities around COS implementation and High Maturity attainment of cells in Launch and commercialization
• Attend NPD Leadership forums and serve as the North Haven representative for NPD pipeline and activities
• Drive footprint/space planning to assure short- and long-term considerations for NPD are covered
• Inform/Consult North Haven site leadership on NPD products and pipeline status including escalations and goal planning and establishment
• Accountable for capacity planning for all NPD products including short and long-term considerations for supplier and internal capital equipment
• Maintain global awareness of manufacturing strategies & capabilities and provide insights into technology specialties across the global manufacturing sites to project core teams.
• Frequent (verbal and written) communications; able to present to peers and management on deliverables status
• Develops solutions to a variety of routine problems using computer and logic-based methods
- Bachelors degree required
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
Nice to Have
- Working knowledge of GD&T, SPC, Validation (MVP,VMP, IQ, OQ, PQ), PFMEA
- Thorough understanding of NPD Stage Gate Processes
- Experience in NPD Launch and Development of medical devices
- Direct experience supporting/managing manufacturing of medical devices
- High financial acumen & analytic skills
- Strong leadership capabilities in a matrix structure
- Strong Project management skills.
- Trained/Certified in Lean and/or 6 Sigma
- Value stream mapping experience preferred
- Ability to set policy and supervise and direct others
- Self-directed with the ability to develop, facilitate and gain consensus in a team environment.
- Effective communication skills with superiors, subordinates, and contractors.
- Ability to adapt to evolving projects requirements.
- Problem solving skills, (both technical & business process)
- Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and integrity when making decisions.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:
This position operates through indirect reporting and influence. This position has close working relationships with divisional and NPD roles in support of NPD. The position reports to North Haven Site Engineering Director. located in North Haven, CT, USA.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal Office conditions, with time spent working on manufacturing shop floors.
