A Day in the Life
The Machine
Operator III will have direct reporting responsibility to Production
Management. This position is responsible for supporting Production in running
the blast units and coordination of all operations activities associated with
blasting of implantable devices.
This support includes;
operating and maintaining the blast unit, understanding how product is loaded
and unloaded for blasting, and how to inspect product after blasting. Learn and
understand the master lathe, blast heat, blast unit, dust collector operation
control and maintenance.
Employee works with
members of the organization as an advocate for increasing effectiveness in the
blasting step and supports the business through improvements and preventative
actions.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Operates light-duty bench- or floor-type machine tools and equipment such as small lathes, power mills, extruding machines, drills or punch presses, power brakes, shears or saws.
- May set up machining machines and make adjustments, and perform maintenance on machines.
- Checks work using prescribed gauges, jigs and fixtures to measure close tolerances.
- Some machines may be numerically controlled.
- May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience
Nice to Have
1. Knowledge of how to operate the blast units.
2. Ability to learn, understand and master lathe, blast
head, blast unit, dust collector operation, air compress/dryer
system, control & maintenance.
3. Ability to learn, understand and master post
blasting rinse/dry process.
4. The ability to develop all blasting programs not
‘turnkeyed’. Develop and test family by family, size by size.
5. Knowledge of how to organize all nc programs for
easy retrieval by part # identification. One nc program in lathe control only
at one time. Assure security, including back-up of all nc programs.
6. Wear nitrile gloves at all times, especially
important post blasting.
7. Knowledge of how to flow product in an orderly,
organized, logical single piece flow manner at all times. No allowance for
batching or co-mingling.
8. Ensure organized, visual and simple means for
storing, retrieving, loading and unloading of tooling.
9. Ability to learn and understand all tooling and
set-up aids by part family, by part size.
10. Ability to load and unload tooling efficiently.
One tool with part running its cycle (2-3 mins.) and loading/setting next tool
with next part in lot.
11. Ability to detect implant shade differences
between fully processed and unprocessed implants through the specified blast
operation. Stop the line at any signs of problems and investigate.
12. Ability to monitor process controls and document
the completion and in process inspection of process steps on the appropriate
quality records (routers & DHR’s).
13. Ability to use bar code readers to update product lot location information in Titan Spine’s inventory management system.
