Market Development Program Manager (m/f/d) - Energy / Capital Equipment
The Market Development Manager for Energy / Capital Equipment is responsible for developing new business models, strategies and cross business solutions as well as the removal of internal and external barriers for Medtronic’s capital and consumable businesses.
He/she will be supporting the Western European region to increase Medtronic market share and revenue in Energy and Capital Equipment but also in the total Surgical Innovation business by growing the business through market expansion projects, developing and launching new business models and developing solutions and customer offerings that drive the growth of the entire SI business.
The Market Development Manager will work closely with the Marketing Manager Visualization, the Marketing Manager ILS , all other European Marketing Managers, in-country Marketers, Disease state Mangers, Service and Repair, Legal, Finance, Pricing, Medical Affairs, Commercial Excellence, IHS and Business Unit Management to secure successful implementation of strategies and tactics to achieve significant and sustainable growth.
The position reports directly to the Sales & Marketing Director Visualization, ILS & Energy.
A Day in the Life
Market & Business Development Responsibilities (65%)
• Identifies, develops, and implements near-term and long-term business strategies relating to the development of new products, technologies, services, follow-on products, and/or industries.
• Identifies markets, licensing opportunities, and determines the feasibility of business and product development.
• Performs economic analyses on new or improved product opportunities.
• Develops business models and determines market trends to substantiate long-term prospects.
• Coordinates with internal departments in identifying and implementing business development projects.
• Will work with sales, marketing and potential customers to determine their needs (client visits from time to time)
• Work with Service and Repair on developing solutions that ensure high customer satisfaction as well as increasing revenue and margin contribution to the business
Product Marketing responsibilities (Visualization 35%):
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
• Formulates and reviews corporate short and long-range plans, goals and objectives for specific Visualization product or product line.
• Conducts competitive product analysis and market research of product consumer behavior and professional audience.
• Determines the profitability and viability of new products or product enhancements.
• Develops marketing strategies and tactics to ensure effective product placement relative to market opportunity, working closely with product development for a specific product, brand, or product area over its entire life cycle.
• Works with other functions to finalize product specifications.
• Provides advertising with core brand equity.
• Serves as technical adviser, demonstrating products and troubleshooting product issues.
Communication and Influence:
Communicates and leads meetings with internal and external customers and vendors, conducts briefings to higher level management team.
Solves issues through information exchange, influence and active persuasion without direct exercise of command to gain cooperation of other parties on program execution plans.
Minimum Requirements:
• At least 3 years of professional experience in a Marketing or Business development role, ideally in the field of Medtech.
• Practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects and tactics within one job area.
• Advanced knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with understanding of the impact of work on other areas of the organization.
• Business fluency in English and a second language
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
• Proactivity and keen sense of initiative
• Strong analytical skills with ability to understand local markets and customer needs
• Ability to plan, manage and execute complex projects within budget and on schedule
• Ability to work collaboratively in a matrix environment
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 50% of working time.
