A Day in the Life
Medtronic Diabetes develops products and services designed to improve the care of people with diabetes. These products include insulin pumps, consumables and accessories for use with our technologies, personal continuous glucose monitoring systems, professional continuous glucose monitoring systems and software systems designed to improve diabetes management and enable remote monitoring between the patient and healthcare professional. The product manager is responsible for supporting the execution of product marketing programs for the Medtronic Diabetes business in Canada.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Formulates and reviews corporate short and long-range plans, goals, and objectives for specific product or product line.
- Conducts competitive product analysis and market research of product consumer behavior and professional audience.
- Determines the profitability and viability of new products or product enhancements.
- Develops production and marketing strategies and tactics to ensure effective product placement relative to market opportunity, working closely with product development for a specific product, brand, or product area over its entire life cycle.
- Works with other functions to finalize product specifications.
- Provides advertising with core brand equity.
- Serves as technical adviser, demonstrating products and troubleshooting product issues.
- Develop marketing strategies in the launch and commercialization of new products and post-launch product lifecycle management.
- Develops marketing strategies as assigned, including product direction, advertising, KOL strategy, conventions strategy and execution to manage a product or product category's life cycle.
- Responsible for HCP and consumer new product launch awareness, including web content and collateral development, communications, retention strategies, engagement campaigns and promotions, pricing strategies and tracking of results.
- Development of competitive product strategies to ensure market share retention and maximization.
- Work closely with cross functional partners to develop marketing tools, competitive positioning, and promotional programs.
- Budget responsibility for expenses directly related directly to the product (demos, samples, costs for the development and production of product specific core materials and communications).
- With visibility from marketing leadership, create and execute project work plans, track deliverables and manage day-to-day project execution through tracking progress towards key metrics/goals.
- Complete other projects and duties as assigned by Marketing Leaders.
- A Bachelors’ Degree and a minimum of 4 years work experience in sales, healthcare, consulting or marketing is required.
- Prior experience launching a product through marketing, clinical field or sales roles is an asset.
- Bilingual in English and French.
- Managed a comprehensive product that has shown measurable success.
- Prior experience in direct to consumer or HCP marketing.
- Strong analytical, project management, interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Ability to think through complex issues and exercise sound business judgment to set strategies.
- Ability to build solid business relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including patients, physicians and educators.
- Integrity, honesty and a strong work ethic.
Nice to Have
- Advanced degree, MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
- Experience in marketing healthcare related products.
- Digital marketing knowledge.
- Clinical / technical or consumer marketing / selling experience.
- Understanding of Diabetes and Diabetes technologies.
